"If a man does not keep pace with his companions, perhaps it is because he hears a different drummer. Let him step to the music which he hears, however measured or far away."
- Henry David Thoreau
I have been differently drumming throughout my career, and I have lots to share about how that "far away" music is measured, and how to make more of it. My inquiry-based process begins with the question:
What if 20th Century Dance and Pop Music and Western Classical Music had a baby?
What music would result by combining the roots of contemporary rhythm, pulse, and improvisation with the emotional resonance, refinement, and coherent deployment of materials of Western Classical music?
The following workshop and residency course offerings lead participants to answer these questions using my unique working methods.
